As in previous years, we tried to come up with something new, unique, imaginative…
Different ideas of pictures and motifs swirled in our heads and hopefully there will be many more that will one day be on our waffle-maker. We’ve created this with only one condition – to keep the spirit of tradition alive and well. The decision-making process didn’t take long at all, it was quite spontaneous. This time we chose the symbol of a ROSE.
A little history
The Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and oriental elements, such as plants, had a significant influence on Slovak ornamentation. Decoration with plant elements is also the most popular and the largest group of ornamentation, the basic motifs of which are a centrally composed flower, when viewed from above, and flowers, from the side view, supplemented with geometric shapes as well as small leaves or twigs. Embroideries included such motifs as a tulip, carnation, petal flower, rose, buds, clover…
Plant ornamentation
Artisans working in the countryside played a large role in the spread of plant ornamentation throughout the folk environment. In general, the ROSE is strongly stylized in folk ornamentation. In a more realistic form, it appears in paintings on furniture, on glass, on ceramics, and in folk embroidery. It was often depicted on wall paintings, in the decoration of Easter eggs and in carvings, where it appeared mainly on gifts of love – the symbol of love was expressed by a flower growing from the heart.
The rose is a wonderful flower, and is rightly called the queen among flowers. We tried to capture her in her tender and loving form and bring a piece of tenderness and love into your homes as well – as a similarly beautiful hand painting and also as tasty “rose-baked” wafers.
We hope it will be both a decoration and a source of enjoyment for you.
With love,
Your Wafee team
